Looking for Staff

calophi March 17th, 2007

No releases just yet, but this is important so bear with me!

I had originally said we weren’t going to be hiring any staff, but now that we’ve loaded up all our stuff we’ve found we have scans that have no staff to go with them! And we also have a few projects we want to be a part of but don’t have the time, so we would like staff for those, too.

For all of our projects we need proofreaders and quality controllers. Comment here if you are interested in doing overall work for us and we’ll figure out a test for you. =D

I’ll be putting up scans for the following as we get them. We need Translators and Editors for these primarily. Let us know if you happen to be interested and we’ll get tests ready faster.

Fantasy Dayo by Miura Noriko (author of Return) (Chinese scans, possibly Japanese scans too) - When Sena was a child, she found a baby (Rao) under the blooming cherry blossoms. She always considered Rao her precious little brother, but on his 14th birthday, he suddenly changes. It turns out Rao is actually a prince from another dimension sent to conquer the human world!

Ohoku by Yoshinaga Fumi (most likely Japanese scans) - In an alternate-universe Japan, most of the men have died out due to some disease - the male-female ratio is 1:4. Therefore, all of the positions of power are held by women, with men around mostly for breeding. The “ohoku” in question is basically the (female) Shogun’s harem (with 800 pretty men).

Michiza de Sarada by Morio Masami (author of Omake no Kobayashi-kun) (chinese scans) - a girl is sent a robot by her grandfather, but unbeknownest to her, the robot is not a robot, but a real human boy!

I’m afraid I can’t help, but I’m thrilled that you’re taking up Ohoku. The twist to the story (female shogun) sounds very intriguing.

I think so too. It’s Youkosiren who brought it up, and she has great manga taste (Gokusen and Return FTW!), so I think it could be a fun one to read and work with. =D

what do you need editors to be able to do? Are we talking like QC type editing actually cleaning up page editing? I am totally intrested in either. However I work yahoo tech support so I don’t have a lot of free time that I could be cleaning. QC I can do at my desk though.

I’m very excited to see that Impossibility will be reopened :)

On another note, I think “Michida de Sarada” has already been scanlated under the name “Mimoza de Sarada” by Sweet Lunacy. But if you want to rescanlate by all means do!

We know, but Sweet Lunacy only did one chapter and there’s a whole volume of it. :)

Well, I don’t have any experience, but I could try translating scans from Chinese, or proofreading. If you could give me more info, or just slip me a test to see if I meet any of the reqs.

I don’t actually have any experience proofreading manga, but if you could send me some info on what proofreading would entail (I’m assuming it’s checking for spelling/grammar/flow of dialogue/ect.) I would definitely consider helping out – especially with Gokusen. =]

And, of course, a test to see if I meet the requirements in the first place.

What is proofreading about? If it’s correcting grammar etc, then I think I can do it! =) And I can edit the manga scans as well (I’ve experimented a bit, though I don’t have real experience). Can I help on Gokusen though??

I don’t have any experience, but I can possibly do a bit of Chinese translation, though I’m not sure how far my skills extend =^^=;. I can edit too. As long as the schedule isn’t too intense, I would love to help out.

I was wondering also about the editing process. I don’t have experience in Japanese but the proof reading process I would like to help out with.

I can help out with proofreading. English has always been my best subject and I proof my friends’ essays all the time.

I’m quite interested in proofreading for Completely-Oblivious. Furthermore, if you’re willing to train newbies for editing positions, I’m up for it too and will work hard - 110% (Although, I have Paint Shop Pro…)

i would love to help out with proof reading and maybe some quality checking if you need it!

I have experience proofreading and love your project list so I would be more than willing to help out if you want to give me a shot. I have worked for the team entropy in the past and am currently a member of ambrosia. Once again your project list is amazing and I do have experience so I would love to help out in any way possible.

I love Return & Gokusen (and in general, unconventional shoujo) and want to apply for quality controller (or proofreader, though I’d only be useful for Chinese scans)! What are the requirements? Last time I applied, standards were pretty high… :0

  17. azurein06on 11 Apr 2007 at 4:52 am   quote

i’d also like to apply for proofreading

  18. Louisa.on 12 Apr 2007 at 2:13 am   quote

Can’t wait for the next release of Gokusen, btw! ;)

Off-topic: Would it be possible to get some kind of email notification built in to this website? That would be nifty.

This may be late, but of you’re still looking for Japanese translators, I’d be willing to help.

    =)

I’d be interested in helping out with several of your projects. Some experience proofing, minimal experience editing. I’d probably need a lot of help initially. But if you are willing to help get me started, I’m willing to learn.

I was wondering also about the editing process. I don’t have experience in Japanese but the proof reading process I would like to help out with. I’m a A Student in English and MLA Formatting.

Michiza de Sarada is more than a oneshot? Wow! I love that story. I don’t know much about editing aside from practicing a bit on my own but I would love to help in bringing Michiza de Sarada to life. I would probably need help now and then but if you don’t mind that, I’d love to help edit it.

I would love to proofread any project. Yes, I have experience and am more than willing to take a test. Please drop me a line if I can help!

Well, you seem inundated with offers of help, but here’s mine:
I have a ton of free time at the moment, and I have some experience editing (and a lot of general photoshop experience); I did Glass Mask at mangasync until they disbanded, and one or two random titles elsewhere. I’m also one of those annoying nitpickers that loves correcting English so I could proofread and stuff.
    Good luck!

I’m probably too late for anything, but if you’re still looking for editors, I’d like to apply. :) I’ve had some experience, and I’m currently working with a doujin group.

Hello. Mimosa de sarada is published in my country so if you still don’t have the translation for it, I can translate the manga from my language to english.

If you still need editors I would be glad to help out.
But I still have some questions :
How much time does an editor have to edit a chapter (about 40 pages) (since I am working for another group at the moment too)? And should the SFX be drawn out too?
